FAQ’s

Is it safe?

Yes. Research shows the treatment has no adverse effects upon the enamel of the tooth. There are no drills, no injections and the procedure does not hurt as it is non obtrusive and clients should have a comfortable experience.

Does the treatment work on caps, veneers or fillings?

The whitening products and services will not lighten the above as they are not porous but they will however clean them to their original colour. It should be noted that clients own teeth may become lighter than the colour of the veneers, crowns and bridges and consequently may require replacing. Please bring to the attention at consultation for further advice.

Are their any teeth that the treatment does not work for?

A very small percentage of people have a condition called tetracycline antibiotic staining which causes the teeth to be a grey/bluish or yellow/brownish. It is much harder to whiten these teeth and more than one treatment may be required as well as home kits. In some cases the teeth may go back to their original colour, this is not a fault with the treatment but an unfortunate effect of this condition as the staining is within the tooth’s structure. A continued treatment of more appointments and home kits may rectify the problem but only actioning this will reveal this and that is still not guaranteed.

Will the treatment make my teeth sensitive?

All teeth are different and all reactions are too. The majority of clients will have no sensitivity at all but some may experience a small amount and a few more pronounced. This is only temporary and will subside within a few hours.

Is the procedure painful?

The procedure has no drills, injections or obtrusive poking in the mouth that is associated with a visit to the dentist. You may feel some tingling sensations and some clients are naturally more sensitive than others but for most clients its relaxing and have even had clients fall asleep.

How white will my teeth go?

Anything from between 5-20+ shades lighter depending on the clients teeth and the original colour and the depth of staining.

What is the recommended aftercare?

Avoiding for 24-48 hours any coloured food and drink and of course smoking as the teeth are still porous after the treatment so light coloured foods such as pasta, rice, chicken, fish and white sauces are advisable. Also staying away from hot and cold.
You can clean your teeth the next morning but it is recommended that you simply use a clear mouthwash or chew sugar free gum the evening of the treatment as teeth maybe a little sensitive.

How long does it last?

For many it can last upto 1-2 years but this does depend on each individual and your lifestyle habits and how well you look after your teeth.
